Homeland is the best new show on TV this season in my opinion. I don’t want to give too much away, but it is beyond brilliant. The show centers on Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody, who returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq, and Carrie Anderson, a driven (and possibly unstable) CIA officer who suspects he might be plotting an attack on America. (*description from IMDB)
From the very first episode you don’t know who Brody, Damien Lewis, is and you are suspicious. We, the audience know now about him-but do we? The show, like 24, takes many twists and turns keeping us on our toes and ready for more just as the episode closes.
Carrie-played brilliantly by Claire Danes-is so focused on work that she ignores her own personal life. She has a mental disorder and needs to be on antipsychotics to get through the day. It’s great character development, because you don’t know if she is paranoid or right on.
Mandy Patinkinplays Saul and to be honest you don’t know if he is on the right side or not-the only thing you do know is that Carrie trusts him 100%-maybe too much if you ask me and he is having a personal crisis of his own.
This is all set on the backdrop of a terrorist plot against the United States to be taken out on American soil.
“An American POW has been turned” is repeated several times and is the one thing that Carrie knows to be true. Is it Brody? Or not?
Even Brody doesn’t know what is real anymore.
I direct you to read up on the show here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1796960/news
but more importantly if you liked 24, and or are a fan of the Bourne series or any spy shows/films/books you need to subscribe to SHOWTIME and see this show.
