OMG! So just when I think Disney can’t surprise me, they do, this year after making it into finals and interviews etc.. I got my rejection letter via email. Disney couldn’t even pop for a stamp!
That is hilarious. Funny enough I had already been told that I didn’t make it into the fellowship so it is even funnier than they waited until two days before Christmas to drop this bomb on me. Good thing I am not suicidal LOL!

The SECRET is to Just WRITE!

Hey everyone in writer world, sorry I have been not so great at keeping up with this. I have a few other blogs as well, and you know trying to do this and submit articles, shorts, work on screenplays, tv series etc.. is a lot!

That said. I am excited that I have had a lot of great response to my screenplay. I was in a meeting last week with an A lister’s production company and this A lister is reading my script right now. I am also learning very quickly how this business works in my world. My world being the writer’s world and how it works makes no sense. One day they love you, the next they don’t know who you are. It is about writing all the time.

I was in the middle of the meeting about my screenplay and was asked, so what is next? Which, from what I told, is the highest compliment a studio/production company or anyone can give. What is next for you? What are you writing and when can we see it? Is what they want to know.

Can we, the studio, production company, plan to make money off of you? Luckily I have tons of things in development and so I know it is just a matter of time.

I recently read a blog of a young Hollywood writer and it disturbed me because this girl was telling people that the only way in is the be an assistant, while I have heard the opposite and hate anyone telling anyone that they only have one way in.

The secret to being a successful writer is just to bloody write and write well, and don’t be disheartened by all the negativity going around, because you will want to kill yourself if you do.

Everyone is NOT going to love you, that is the way it is, so I just take it like assholes, everyone has one just like their opinion. Some people like me, some people don’t, it is what it is.

The support I get from my friends is what keeps me going and the Mr. & Mrs. Negative Negativersen can just suck it, because I know this is hard. I don’t need to be reminded that I could have gotten a “real job” every day. I could have, but I chose to follow my dreams.

About 6 weeks ago I started a novel that I was going to write in a month and a friend of mine sent me a text when I was heading home from work to write and the text said, “good luck with the novel, I’m sure your gonna kill it” and that gave me just what I needed when I sat down to start my 70-80,000 word journey.

So, write and surround yourself with people that support your choice to do this. :0)

Catching You Up!

I haven’t posted in awhile cuz things have been crazy!!

First of all, I finished a new novel which I am calling, Slanted Houses, it is about a girl who goes to San Francisco to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge because her life has fallen apart and she can’t take it anymore. When she is there, she meets a guy and decides to put her suicide on hold. This is a story about second chances, seeing things one way when really they are another, and enjoying life even when it sucks.
I have a couple publishers interested, but am starting serious queries this week! I love this book and think it is one of my best novels to date, if not the best.

I didn’t get into the ABC Disney Fellowship, which I was sad about, but think that everything happens for a reason, so it is okay and I will try again, and also try for a staff position as well.

I am looking for a new agent, so if you have a good one, please let me know! :0)

My screenplay is still in talks and that is great, but it isn’t sold yet. I have heard that another studio and actor are also interested, so that makes me happy.

I am doing a spec screenplay, an adaptation of an Irish novel, in hopes to selling it, or securing a job later this year.

And last but not least, am trying to survive, looking for full time work and all that great stuff that us writers in lala land go through.

Hope you are all well!
